VET EXPERT EXCELLENCE SUMMIT is a unique event organised by the VET EXPERT brand, dedicated this year to acute and chronic gastrointestinal diseases in dogs and cats, with particular emphasis on diagnosis, differential diagnosis and therapeutic management.

During the conference, participants will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge based on the latest scientific findings and the practical experience of experts in small animal gastroenterology. This year’s edition also provides a space for discussion and the sharing of experiences among specialists.

Julien Dandrieux, BSc, Dr med vet, PhD, DACVIM, GCUT, MRCVS

Dr Julien Dandrieux graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 2002. He subsequently completed specialist training as part of a joint residency program between the University of Bern and Louisiana State University. In 2008 he became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Dipl. ACVIM – Small Animal Internal Medicine). He then worked in the United Kingdom – first as a Lecturer in Small Animal Medicine at the University of Liverpool, and later as a Veterinary Internal Medicine Consultant at IDEXX Laboratories. He subsequently moved to Australia, where he completed his PhD in gastroenterology at the University of Melbourne; he remained there until May 2022. Dr Julien Dandrieux’s research focuses on gastrointestinal diseases, autoimmune disorders, and the use and therapeutic drug monitoring of immunosuppressive medications in companion animals.

He is passionate about clinical work and teaching. He has a particular interest in clinical research that helps advance evidence-based veterinary medicine. Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his family and exploring nature.

Karolina Malewska, MVD, PhD

Dr Karolina Malewska graduated in 2004 from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn. In 2010 she completed her specialization in diseases of dogs and cats and one year later she defended her doctoral thesis entitled “Application of natural and synthetic immunomodulators in IBD in dogs”. She currently works as a clinical adjunct at the Veterinary Polyclinic of the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, where she primarily manages gastroenterological patients. She is also a lecturer on the Certified Course in Gastroenterology conducted at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn. She is a member of the European Society of Comparative Gastroenterology.

She actively serves as a gastroenterology consultant for dogs and cats at the Tri-City Veterinary Clinic. For many years she has been passionate about probiotic therapy and the intestinal microbiome, which led to the development of a Polish probiotic for animals based entirely on Polish probiotic strains. Her goal is to promote probiotic therapy as a means of reducing antibiotic use in animals.

Dr Karolina Malewska regularly participates in numerous international conferences on gastroenterology, probiotic therapy, and related fields. This allows her to keep her knowledge up to date and provide effective help to her patients.

Privately, she is a happy mother to Patrycja, Dominika, and Weronika. At home, she is always greeted by her dogs: Lusia, Kliper, and Szekla; her cats: Cynamon, Żmija, and Pietruszka; and her exotic blue-winged Amazon parrot – Frodo.
